Neff Gulf Coast Web Development Case Study

Neff Gulf Coast LogoDavid and Cindy Wentzel invited me to their office to discuss development of logo and a new website for Neff Gulf Coast. Having been in the cabinetry business for years David and Cindy educated me about cabinetry, hardware and outdoor kitchen design. I was immediately impressed. This is a business that provides design and installation services in high end homes so they needed a high end website which of course was done within a reasonable budget from Empowered Marketing.

Web Development Notes

The look and feel for this site in terms of “structure” was inspired by another Neff website and the color scheme was inspired by this gorgeous custom kitchen.

As a long term thinker I’ve been building responsive (mobile friendly) websites since 2012. was no different, it is fully responsive.

One nice feature I enjoyed adding was the scrollable text area to the right of the slider on the home page. A nice touch to prevent making the home page really long.

I took a risk in using the Architect plugin by PizazzWP to create the slideshows on the gallery page. It was risky because this plugin was still in beta when we were developing the website. Fortunately I had used it on 3 other websites but there were some challenges because I was doing something with Architect that I hadn’t done before. By working with Chris Howard of PizazzWP were were able to work out the kinks to make the the galleries function and look like I wanted them to.

The risk paid off because Architect is a very fast loading plugin that is is very versatile.

Page Speed as Measured with GTMetrix

An important aspect of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is how fast a page loads. The measurements involved are too numerous to explain here but the home page receives a “PageSpeed” score of 93% and the Galleries page receives a score of “97%.” As a side note Empowered Marketing guarantees a PageSpeed score of at least 85%. We are always happy when we can push a website’s speed above a 90% (a grade of A).

The end result is a design that is clean, elegant and complements Neff’s body of work nicely.
